Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) is calling for nominations for its NSW Wine List Awards, which recognise restaurants and hospitality businesses that excel in the promotion of local wines.

For the second consecutive year, R&CA has partnered with the NSW Wine Industry Association to deliver the awards as part of the 2015 Wine List Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence program.

R&CA CEO John Hart said the awards are about showcasing local cafes and restaurants that develop a list of NSW wines which complement their food offering.

“It’s all about enhancing the visitor experience by combining local food and wine together. 

“We know international visitors crave authentic local culinary experiences – this is a great way to reward those businesses that make it a core component of their operation,” he said.

The call for entries comes a few months after R&CA launched Cellar Reserve, a website which can help connect restaurants with wineries that have small amounts of stock specific for on-premise distribution.

“The association identified that there was a demand for small stock within the industry and this will help streamline the process between the cellar door to sophisticated wine lists – when a restaurant is searching for a particular wine and only requires a small quantity they can purchase direct from the winery,” Hart said.

Nominations for the NSW Wine List Awards close on 25 September, with the winners revealed at The Imperial Paddington on 29 October, 2015.
