Acclaimed Melbourne restaurant Ezard has been named Restaurant of the Year at the prestigious Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Australia Awards honouring excellence in the industry.

Chef and owner Teage Ezard, was at the awards to claim his honour in front of more than 550 of his peers at the glittering industry event held in the Ballroom at Sydney’s Four Seasons Hotel..

The award coincides with Ezard unveiling a new venture, a new restaurant called Gingerboy in Melbourne.

Restaurant & Catering president Con Castrisos congratulated Ezard and all the winners for winning against such a high calibre of competitors and in an award with such a rigorous judging system.

"To be named as one of only 34 winners out of over 37,000 businesses is an absolutely amazing achievement," he said.

Other major award winners included The Cowrie Exclusive & Corporate Catering (Caterer of the Year), Lo Studio (Best New Restaurant), Jacques Reymond (Best Fine Dining Restaurant), Yoshii (Best Asian Restaurant), Bistro Moore (Best Pub/Tavern/Club Restaurant), Pier Restaurant (Best Seafood Restaurant), and Marque Restaurant (Best European Restaurant).
