Australia’s best restaurant wine lists will be recognised with the rekindling of a respected national award.

The Australian Wine List of the Year is being relaunched after a four year break. The awards will be officially launched on February 4 in partnership with Gourmet Traveller Wine and Fine Wine Partners.

Wine writer Peter Forrestal will chair a panel of 12 Australian and International judges.

The awards are open to any licensed on-premise establishment in Australia and will be judged across a series of categories including restaurant, cafe/brasserie, club restaurant, country restaurant, international hotel restaurant, pub restaurant, or wine bar.

There will also be five supplementary awards—the Judy Hirst Award for Best Sommelier, Tony Hitchin Award for New restaurant, Small list, Wine Region list and Food and Wine matching.

Information will be available from winelistoftheyear.com.au after February 4.
