Stamford Grand North Ryde has announced plans for a $4 million upgrade to its restaurant, which will be renamed Captain Cook's Cove and is slated for completion in September this year.
According to Yesh Mudaliar, director of sales for Stamford Grand North Ryde, the new restaurant and bar will aim to provide business people with a place to take their clients, outside of the office. "We are located in a business park so on weekdays we'll be targeting not only locals but also the local business market as well. At the moment in North Ryde, there's nowhere really for clients to take people out to lunches and dinners, apart from the CBD or Chatswood, so we want to capture that audience as well," he said.
The restaurant's new look will be based around a contemporary nautical theme and will include floor to ceiling windows that face the hotel's tropical gardens and lagoon.
There will also be a new menu that will include modern international brasserie cuisine during the week and a seafood buffet on the weekend. Captain Cook's Cove will also have a bar area where quick, produce-driven, fresh meals will be available all day. The bar will provide business diners with simple and quick lunch options during the day, then offer an extensive by-the-glass wine list and cocktail options in the evening - all put together by food and beverages manager, Stephan Leroy, who has previously worked with Accor properties overseas.
Mudaliar says that a number of other Stamford Grand hotels will undergo similar renovations, but they are all in the earlier stages of planning.
