The Sofitel Sydney Wentworth has launched the first complete kosher kitchen in a Sydney hotel.

Under the supervision of Rabbi, Aaron Groner, of the Kashurit Authority in Sydney, the hotel can now create kosher meals in house for up to up to 600 guests.

Sofitel’s kosher kitchen and cuisine is expected to be of particular service to those wishing to celebrate and participate in major Jewish events including coming of age celebrations like Bar and Bat Mitzvahs as well as weddings, anniversaries and family reunions.

Sofitel’s general manager, Marc Cherrier, said the addition of the kosher kitchen will allow the hotel to more effectively service the needs of Jewish guests and the broader community at large without the assistance of external kosher caterers.

“Sofitel Sydney Wentworth over the years has built a strong and enduring relationship with the local Jewish community, and this new venture will allow us to offer even more choices and competitive pricing for kosher event,” said Cherrier.

“Our investment and time dedicated to this project affirming our commitment to meeting the specific needs of our Jewish guests, after some 30 years of catering to kosher events with the assistance of various external suppliers.”

AS part of the new service, the hotel has appointed a dedicated kosher expert to assist with the implementation of the in-house kosher service.

Lisa Klein will fill the new role, which will see her meet with clients and liaise with the kosher authority directly to ensure an effortless event for Jewish guests.

Sydney Rabbi and philanthropist Rabbi, Mendel Kastel, has confirmed The Jewish House will be among the first to take advantage of the hotel’s new kosher service and facilities, with the charity holding its annual fund raising event – featuring entertainment from famous father and son Jimmy Barnes and David Campbell - at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth on December 1.
