The closing date for nominations for the new award recognising the achievements of some of Australia’s top trade teachers is fast approaching.

The Australian Trade Teacher of the Year Awards have been launched by the The Institute for Trade Skills Excellence which will award $10,000 to teachers in a series of different areas including hospitality.

Nominations in the hospitality category close on 21 September.

The awards are open to trade skills teachers and assessors who are currently engaged in trade training with an Australian Registered Training Organisation.

The Institute for Trade Skills Excellence is funded by the Australian Government and is a partnership between the Government and Australian Business to promote and advance learning, teaching and training in Australian trades education.

The awards were part of a raft of new initiatives from the ITSE announced recently as part of a strategy to solve the critical skill shortage being faced by the Australian across a range of industries, particularly hospitality.

The overall winner of the Australian Trade Teacher of the Year award will be announced at the awards on November 8.
