The Specials Board is a new iPhone application allowing users to view food and drink vouchers and deals by using the GPS technology on their phone.

App users can see all relevant promotions in a list or on a map, be able to view all the details, terms and conditions and if they choose, call the venue to make a booking.

The free app also has the ability to sort vouchers by venue category or cuisine, and users can also add a deal to a favourites folder in their iPhone for later redemption.

Hospitality businesses will also be able to update their promotions daily.

"Restaurants and bars can often find their offers lost in a flood of marketing messages, and find that traditional paper based coupons and vouchers simply don't result in extra footfall," said Jon Williams, founder of The Specials Board.

"The Specials Board users only view local offers, and are thus far more likely to redeem the voucher, as they are actively searching and are already in a buying mood."

With over 100 venues signed up, Williams said the popularity of the app with restaurants and bar managers is due to "the self service backend, giving the venues complete control over their vouchers and promotions, and a competitive launch pricing model."

The app is expected to be launched on 1 November.
