Iconic hotel roars to the top at South Australian awards

Iconic North Adelaide hotel, the Lion Hotel, was last named the South Australian Hotel of the Year for 2009 at the Australian Hotels Association’s Industry Awards for Excellence.

The Lion’s acclaimed restaurant has also grabbed an award for Best Restaurant-General Division for the fourth year in a row.

Plus owners Tim Gregg and Andrew Svencis also walked away with the trophy for Best Bar Presentation & Service-Metropolitan. The bar was reopened the bar in June last year after an extensive redevelopment.

AHA South Australia general manager Ian Horne said Gregg and Svencis should be commended on their success.

“They have established a hotel that consistently offers it all – great food, fantastic service, a warm

atmosphere and a truly unforgettable experience”.

The Lion Hotel is no stranger to achieving great things—in 2007 it win the National AHA award for Best Hotel in Australia in 2007.

Best redeveloped hotel-country—Taminga Hotel, Clare

Best redeveloped hotel-metropolitan—Hilton Hotel
