New superfood on the Aussie market.
There's a new berry in town that's gunning to muscle in on the superfood market, and on foodservice menus.

Incaberries, a nutrient-rich dried fruit from Ecuador, have been launched to the Austalian market for the first time with an organic certified product now being imported by GB-Commtrade, one of Australia's major specialists in nuts and dried fruit.

Being marketed as having more than twice or triple the dietary fibre of most dried fruits and more antioxidants than raw Goji berries, Incaberries are having an enjoying a "unprecedented popularity" around the world as people discover their taste and health benefits, says GB-Commtrade founder, Gerard Brunton.

"Internationally, Michelin-starred chef Raymond Blanc is a fan and they are the latest, must-have addition to breakfast buffets at leading European hotels," Brunton said.

"The organic, preservative-free berries are an ideal fit for our market providing a nutrient-rich snack and ingredient for discerning, health-conscious consumers, and most importantly they actually taste great.

"We've received exciting feedback from initial tastings by Australia's leading chefs, food writers and dietitians, with many eager to experiment with this interesting, new ingredient."

Brunton said the berries have a unique flavour, beginning with a sweet note, followed by a more-ish sour twist making them an ideal snack and highly versatile ingredient for cooking and baking.

Just what we need now - another superfood. Australia still holds the world record for the 2 fruits with the highest antioxidant capacity - Kakadu plum and Quandong. A plethora of other Australian wild foods are brimming with antioxidants, enzymes, minerals and other beneficial phytonutrients. As if we need an Ecuadorian dried fruit. Let's just see Australians choosing our own foods over something that's travelled across the planet. Anyway. If it were so good, why export it? Are Eduadorians all in the peak of health? There is no magic bullet. What we need is a whole rainforest of foods. Proof of this is in Kakadu Complex. 26 superfoods (11 of them wild Australian) working in synergy and producing amazing results in terms of eliminating the diseases of nutrition. Try some before going out and buying the South American, high carbon footprint, high fibre Incaberries and ask yourself - where are the Incas now?
