Counting down to NSW Wine Week 2009

 The Sydney Morning Herald New South Wales (NSW) Wine Week begins with a bang on Sunday March 1st with Sydney Cellar Door in Hyde Park South. This wine festival will be the biggest outdoor wine event ever staged in Sydney.

In the weeks that follow, restaurants throughout the city will showcase NSW Wine matched to specially crafted menus, exclusive to NSW Wine Week.

Sydney Cellar Door is a unique opportunity for consumers to sample wines from more than 100 wineries from NSW’s 14 wine regions in a single day. An expected 20,000 people will converge on Hyde Park South on Sunday March 1, with NSW wineries from all over the state traveling to the big smoke to create the biggest and best outdoor wine event the emerald city has ever seen.

While wine retains the starring role at Sydney Cellar Door there will be an equally impressive selection of quality food and produce on offer from regional producers and Sydney restaurateurs to complement each tipple. Wine and food lovers will be kept amused with all-day entertainment, adding to the festival atmosphere.

NSW Wine Week is being held by The Sydney Morning Herald in conjunction with NSW Wine, and will feature the greatest line-up of NSW Wines ever shown.

Dine With New South Wales Wine

Throughout March 2009, over 50 restaurants featured in The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide will offer a special lunch and dinner meal matched with a glass of premium NSW Wine for under $50.

New South Wales Wine ~ Tour of the Regions Dinners

Four of Sydney's leading hatted restaurants will host unique Tour of the Regions dinner experiences for $150 per head including especially crafted 4 course degustation menu matched to 13 of NSW’s best wines.

These dinners will be at: Glass Brasserie Monday 2nd March 2009; Buon Ricordo Tuesday 3rd March; Becasse Wednesday 4th March and Bentley Bar & Restaurant Thursday 5th March. Each dinner will be hosted by a food & wine celebrity, who will talk with the chef and winemakers. Bookings essential.

Sydney Cellar Door

Sydney's biggest outdoor wine festival will be held on Sunday, March 1 from 11am – 6pm and will transform Sydney’s Hyde Park South into a “NSW Wine Trail”. Visitors can expect over 100 premium wineries from our 14 NSW regions showcasing their finest wines plus live entertainment from Mahalia Barnes and Steve Clisby and over 40 gourmet food stalls from leading restaurants and producers including Justin North from Becasse, Tony Bilson from Bilson's Restaurant and Sean Connolly from Astral.
