The Children’s Food Education Foundation is appealing for donations of food related books for distribution to schools, communities and families affected by the recent natural disasters in Australia.

The foundation said the appeal is aimed at aiding the disaster relief campaign by replacing food related books and magazines with either second-hand or new literature. They can be anything from recipes books to or gardening books to fiction books that revolve around food. DVDs are also welcome.

Kennards are supporting the foundation with free storage space in Melbourne and Sydney so the books can then be delivered to affected communities when they are back in their vegetable plots and kitchens.

The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, ArtPlay and City of Melbourne are also putting their support behind the appeal. Donations can be delivered during festival events including"

Sat 14 Mar Connex “Sizzle” near the Global Chargrill BBQ stage 12–5pm

Sun 15 Mar “Wicked Sunday” at the info tent on Federation Square 12–4pm

Fri 20 Mar ArtPlay, Birrarung Marr (behind Federation Square) 10am–12pm

Sat 21 Mar ArtPlay, Birrarung Marr (behind Federation Square) 9am–3pm

Donations can also be dropped off at Kennards Storage, 159 acecourse Road (enter via Stubbs St), Flemington from 16th March until further notice.

The other way to help is to buy a book online and have it delivered directly to the Children’s Food Education Foundation PO Box 137 Benalla VIC 3671.
