Major global hotel group Accor has taken over the management of the Swiss-Grand Resort and Spa at Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach and is planning a refurbishment as part of its growth plans for the property.
The Swiss-Grand overlooks the beach, and is the only international standard resort located there.
Besides being a popular base for holiday makers and for short breaks, the 4.5 star all-suite hotel is one of Sydney’s most successful conference and function venues.
The 203-room property features stunning views and a resort-style feel in the heart of Bondi’s busy restaurant, retail and entertainment precinct.
Resort facilities include a rooftop swimming pool and the Samsara Day Spa, offering Balinese massage and spa treatments in a lush, tropical purpose-built centre.
The hotel offers a variety of restaurants and bars, including the signature Epic Brasserie and the Deck Bar & BBQ, which overlooks Bondi Beach.
The Swiss-Grand’s conference and function facilities include a ballroom, meeting and board rooms, and the rooftop Bellevue Terrace, an exclusive reception venue that offers peerless beach views.
Accor’s vice president Australia, Simon McGrath, said Accor was well-experienced in operating major beachside resorts and would bring a new level of hospitality to the famed hotel.
“Accor has had many years operating major waterfront hotels such as the Manly Pacific, Novotel Brighton Beach and Novotel Northbeach, all of which have extensive conference facilities,” said McGrath. "We will use this background and experience to build on the Swiss Grand's current position.
“Bondi Beach is known throughout the world for its highly attractive beach and relaxed lifestyle and with the hotel’s outstanding position and views, we look forward to bringing even larger numbers of international, interstate and local visitors to the hotel for conferences, weddings, meetings and indulgent holidays.
“Plans are being developed for some soft upgrading of rooms and the function areas, and we will be looking to introduce other new initiatives in facilities and services over the next few months.
“It is very exciting prospect to add such a renowned property to the Accor network.”
Accor’s hotel brands Sofitel, Pullman, Novotel, Mercure, Suitehotel, Ibis, All Seasons, Etap Hotel, Formule 1 and Motel 6.
