Cake Wines will be opening Sydney’s first ever-permanent cellar door on Thursday 10 March.

Located within a restored warehouse on Eveleigh St, the opening will coincide with the brand’s fifth birthday. In addition to wine sales and tastings, the team at Cake Wines will host numerous events at their new venue including everything from educational wine sessions, workshops and talks, to live music.

The brand was founded by Glen Cassidy and Mike Smith along with friend and now head winemaker, Sarah Burvill. The wines are crafted with grapes from the Adelaide Hills and sister region McLaren Vale, and are designed to be approachable drops that are stylistically true to the grape and region.

“We’ve come a long way in a few short years and learnt a hell of a lot. We’re now in a position to do something we’ve talked about since day one… and that’s to open our own cellar door, not at the vineyard, but smack bang in the middle of Sydney,” says Burvill.

The venue will have the full range of 2014 and 2015 wines available by the glass and bottle alongside a selection of local small-batch wines, local beers and cider and a small selection of craft spirits.

In terms of food, a range of artisan meats and cheeses from some of the country’s best producers will also be available.
